The Tourism Trust Fund, (TTF) today officially handed over an accommodation site at Masinga Dam for the development of water sports tourism in Kenya.
A total of €1,000,000 was allocated to the implementation of the enabling environment aspects of the programme. €7,000,000 has been allocated to Product Quality, Sustainability and Market Acceptability activities.
The TDSDP agreement, signed in May, provided a fund of €12,000,000 drawn from the 8th European Development Fund (EDF8). The TISMPP agreement, in March, provided a grant of €10,000,000 sourced from the 1992/3 STABEX Framework of Mutual Obligation – Tourism Development Component.

A total of €9,500,000 was allocated to this component, with counterpart contributions to be provided by the GoK, the Catering Levy and Training Trust, and the private sector to match the EU funding.
The funds allocated to the TISMPP programme are invested by the TTF until draw down against approved implementation programmes and plans. Interest earned from investments may be made available for use under the TISMPP as the programme develops.
The TISMPP exceptionally provided €3,000,000 (approx) for the 2003/4 Tourism Market Recovery Programme (TMRP), which was implemented by TTF on behalf of, and with the assistance of KTB.
